Rifle Sight-In Policy

All members shall take these steps to sight-in a new rifle or a rifle with new optic or sights installed.

  1. Ensure sights and optics are securely mounted to the rifle.
  2. Bore sighting or laser bore sighting is a valuable tool.
  3. All centrefire rifles shall be sighted in on Range #5A on the 50-yard target board.
  4. Rimfire rifles may use 25-yard board on Range #6.
  5. Once adjusted to within 3” (7cm) the member may use Range #4 and continue sighting in.
Background:  Range #5A has a very high backstop with respect to the 50-yard target board and is better suited to contain errant shots as a result of misaligned or incorrectly installed sights and optics.

Rifles must be able to hit the paper at 50 yards on Range #5A before moving to Range #4.

This Policy is mandatory for all members regardless of experience.
