Club Safety Rules
Members are to wear club I.D. at all
times.
This club is private property.
Club members and invited guests only.
Guests must be accompanied by a
club member at all times.
Guests must "sign in and sign
out" in the guest book for each visit.
All Members and Guests of Crumlin
must obey all Federal and Provincial laws in addition to the rules as set
out by the Board of Governors.
Shoot only on OPEN ranges.
A range officer shall be present
or appointed at each active range.
Ear & eye protection required by
all shooters and spectators.
All firearms to be unloaded and
open actions at all times.
Shooters to maintain muzzle
control in a safe direction at all times.
All new shooters to a particular
discipline, shall advise the range officer of that fact.
Load only at the firing line and
load only the number of rounds for that event.
Whenever a "Cease fire" is called
on any range, all participants must immediately unload and make their
firearm safe and step away from the firing line.
Clean up all debris and place in
appropriate garbage containers.
Shoot at only approved targets in
an approved manner.
All targets are to be posted so that the
bullets will hit the rear berm below the mid point. If that does not happen,
or cannot happen, then the target has been posted improperly. Bullets SHALL
NOT HIT THE WALLS or THE GROUND in front of berm.
Do not climb berms or walls.
Obey all rules of each section.
Do not distract other shooters
with your conduct or actions.
All accidents must be reported
and documented by filling out an accident report and notifying a board
member.
After a misfire or a hang-fire,
the action must remain closed for a minimum of 60 seconds with the muzzle
pointed in a safe direction.
When accessing rear ranges,
vehicles are to stop and proceed only when safe to do so, or when waved on
by Skeet and Trap squads.
Do not throw live rounds or mis-fired
shells into the garbage containers or on the club grounds.
Shooters are responsible for the
safe storage and transport of their firearms and ammunition. The Crumlin
Sportsmen's Association cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage of
personal articles.
The front gate shall be locked by
the last member out of the club. If any doubt, lock gate as all members have
combination to gate.
Violation of safety rules may
result in disciplinary action by the Board of Directors up to and including
forfeiture of membership.
TEN COMMANDMENTS
OF GUN SAFETY
Always keep the muzzle pointed
in a safe direction.
Guns should be unloaded when
not actually in use.
Don't rely on your gun's
"safety".
Treat every gun as if it can fire at any time.
Be sure of your target and
what's beyond it.
Use correct ammunition.
If your gun fails to fire when
the trigger is pulled, HANDLE WITH CARE.
Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction and get adult help.
Always wear eye and ear
protection when shooting.
Be sure the barrel is clear of
obstructions before shooting.
Don't alter or modify your gun,
and DO have your gun serviced regularly.
Learn the mechanical and
handling characteristics of the firearm you are using. Do not use any
firearm that you have not had adult instruction in handling.
